It seems as though everyone I come in contact with lately tell me the same thing over, and over, and over. "Just bring it to the feet of Jesus." Okay, let's break this down a bit. Just bring, "it". IT for me looks like this:
My anxiety, my work, my job situation, my depression, my anxiety, my lonliness, my anger, my wit, my charm, my love, my family, my singleness, my anxiety, my depression, over and over and over.
But really, why do they say at Jesus' feet?! Feet are icky, dirty, smelly, the closest thing to the ground. Do people say that because he showed incredible servanthood when he washed his disciple's feet? Could I instead bring my head upon his shoulder, lay my head upon his chest and feel safe? Or rather, is it more a metaphor of instead bringing it to his feet because that is where the bottom of the cross starts?
The bottom of the cross, I can bring these things there, I can lay all of my worry, fear, and doubt there. I can rest in what the promise of the cross is. But bringing it to his FEET?! That just sounds gross.
